In 2025, Pairi Daiza welcomed 2,9 million visitors, 480 abandoned or confiscated reptiles, tortoises and amphibians and rescued 163 Belgian wild animals in distress.

Pairi Daiza is growing internationally in service of nature conservation.

With 2.86 million visits, a Resort operating near full occupancy, and a growing workforce, Pairi Daiza, “The Garden of the Worlds, where beauty awakens love", reinforces its position as Belgium’s leading tourist attraction, drawing an increasingly broad European audience.

Pairi Daiza ended 2025 with an 8.1% increase in visitor numbers. In 2025, the Park welcomed 2,866,576 visitors, compared to 2,651,554 in 2024.

The increase reflects growth in both Belgian and international attendance. Belgium remains the Park’s largest source market (+6.4%).

Growth, however, extends well beyond Belgium and France (+6,6%), with particularly strong gains from other international markets:

  • Netherlands: +56.9%
  • Germany: +41.8%
  • Luxembourg: +30.5%
  • Other countries: +25%

International visitors choose both day trips and multi-day stays at the unique Pairi Daiza Resort.

Guests travelled from almost every European country, as well as from further afield—including the United States, Canada, Japan, Brazil, India and Singapore—to enjoy the exceptional Pairi Daiza experience up close to the animals, surrounded by extraordinary plants, minerals and architecture.

These figures reflect the influence of Pairi Daiza and international recognition as Europe’s Best Holiday Park and Europe’s Best Zoo is attracting an ever broader international audience—firmly rooted in Europe, with an outstanding reputation reaching far beyond the continent.

The Resort: a unique and resilient model that serves as inspiration.

Several international organisations referred in 2025 the press explicitly to the Pairi Daiza Resort as an inspiration for their own ambitious future plans or as a potential source of new revenue streams. In 2025, the Pairi Daiza Resort confirmed the robustness of this model with its most successful season since the launch of the accommodation offering in 2019.

Of the 39,930 accommodation stays available, 38,143 were booked, resulting in an exceptional occupancy rate of 95.52%—a figure rarely seen in hotel management.

The Pairi Daiza Experience is fully carried through into these unique overnight experiences: sparking love and care for nature through a premium hotel concept that offers a 24/7 insight into the lives of wild and farm animals, as close as possible to living beauty itself.

Growth in the service of nature conservation

In 2025, Pairi Daiza and the Pairi Daiza Foundation invested more than €2 million in 36 conservation and research projects worldwide, with a focus on habitat restoration, scientific research and the reintroduction of endangered species.

  • A total of 112 European conservation programmes and biodiversity preservation projects are supported in the countries of origin of the species hosted by Pairi Daiza. Highlights included the births of two Asian elephant calves, Siam and Maximus; two Southern white rhinoceroses, Akuna and Nova; and Perla, the first Spix’s macaw ever born in Belgium.
  • Scientific collaborations with eight universities and research institutions on projects focusing, among other areas, on animal behaviour, the reproduction of endangered species, and welfare in a controlled environment.
  • La Refuge, founded in 2003, rescues abandoned or confiscated reptiles, tortoises and amphibians. In 2025, the Pairi Daiza Foundation took in 480 animals for permanent care (down 9% from 2024), the vast majority surrendered by owners (462), 5 animals were found on the street, 13 animals were confiscated by Belgian authorities.
  • Geraldine’s Heaven, the Pairi Daiza Foundation’s wildlife hospital and rehabilitation centre for native species, raised a clear warning signal this summer. In 2025, it took care of 163 wild animals in distress, up from 111 in 2024. Activity is highly seasonal, peaking between March and October; May 2025 set a record with 38 admissions. Hedgehogs were the most frequent patients, with 53 treated in 2025 (37 in 2024)—nearly one third of all admissions. Often injured by road traffic, habitat fragmentation and garden tools, hedgehogs are paying an increasing price for human activity. Since October 2024, the IUCN has changed their status from “Least Concern” to “Near Threatened.” Today, two common buzzards and eleven hedgehogs are in revalidation at Géraldine’s Heaven, by a team of animal keepers and veterinarians, supported by 16 volunteers.

These commitments have been the backbone of Pairi Daiza’s day-to-day work since its founding. They will continue to guide the Park’s development in the years ahead, ensuring that its success remains inseparable from its core mission of conservation and education.

Eric Domb, Founder and Chairman of Pairi Daiza, said: “With nearly 2.9 million visitors, a resort that was almost fully booked, growing teams and the exceptional births of rare animals, 2025 was the finest season in our history. That success is not an end point—it is a responsibility: to act thoughtfully, with care and respect for all living things.”

The 2026 season starts on 7 February 2026. Throughout the new season visitors will be invited to discover Edenya, a recordbreaking 4-hectare eco-greenhouse which takes you to the heart of the equatorial belt, the biggest tropical greenhouse in the world.

The Garden of the Five Wonders

In the heart of Europe, Belgium is home to a sanctuary unlike any other: Pairi Daiza, a place where humanity gathers around the pursuit and celebration of beauty. Spread across 80 hectares, this extraordinary garden allows visitors to journey across continents and civilizations in just one or a few days.

Rare animals thrive here in harmony, centuries-old trees and fragile plants stand in dialogue with remarkable architectures from across the globe and the Earth’s mineral treasures. Within the ancient Abbey walls, precious stones from across the globe find their place, Brazilian amethysts, Chinese jade, native copper from Michigan, and intricate Pietra Dura mosaics, timeless reminders that beauty knows no borders and no end.

Repeatedly named “Best Zoo in Europe” and celebrated by leading international travel guides, Pairi Daiza has become Belgium’s top tourist destination. A visit goes far beyond the concept of a zoo. It is a living work of art, a transformative space where nature, culture, and humanity converge. Each year, millions of visitors step through its gates, leaving not only enchanted but also inspired, their hearts stirred with a renewed commitment to protect life in all its forms.
