Invitation September 12: 10 years of the steam train in Pairi Daiza starting at 10 a.m

On September 13 and 14, 2025, we will celebrate 10 years of the Pairi Daiza Steam Railway with an international two-day festival.

Since 2015, steam trains have been transporting young and old alike for 2 kilometers through the different worlds of Pairi Daiza. This year, we celebrate its 10th anniversary with an exceptional weekend dedicated entirely to the passion for steam locomotives.

To mark this occasion in a fitting way, Pairi Daiza is going all out: 10 steam locomotives will be running and displayed in the Park, offering visitors a unique immersion into the world of railways.

Five locomotives are coming especially for this event to Pairi Daiza from France, the Czech Republic, and England. Two of these locomotives were originally built in Belgium. They will join the locomotives already present in the Park to form a living and moving museum.

The program for Friday, September 12:

10:00 a.m.: Welcome and access to the Park, address: Domaine of Cambron-Casteau, within walking distance of the NMBS train station Cambron-Casteau.

10:30 a.m.: Speech in the Train Workshop by Jason Van Landschoot, Executive Staff Member and Head of the Mobile Collection.

11:00 a.m.: Official opening of the exhibition

12:15 p.m.: Ride with the steam train

The program for the festive weekend on September 13 and 14 includes:

  • Exhibition of the locomotives: all day long, in front of the Pairi Daiza Steam Railway workshop, located next to the Izba restaurant. Here you can admire these heritage treasures in all their glory and learn everything about the history of these machines and how Pairi Daiza restores and preserves this exceptional technological heritage.
  • A special parade at 11 a.m., during which all operational locomotives will ride together through the Park.
  • Three trains in double traction
Departures every 10 minutes for rides through the Park, so everyone can enjoy this unique journey through the worlds of Pairi Daiza.

A must-see event for railway enthusiasts and curious visitors alike.

At Pairi Daiza, a dedicated team preserve, prepare, operate and devote themselves to these iron giants with remarkable passion, patience, and expertise. Each team member is entrusted with a specific locomotive, taking personal responsibility for its care and readiness. Preparing a steam engine is no small task — it takes nearly three hours to heat up and bring a locomotive to life before it can begin its journey.
